Since the
Taliban took control of Kabul in September 2021, school-aged girls have been
deprived of their many basic rights, one of which is the right to education. Currently, 2.5 million female students are out of school. Although there are various higher education opportunities within Afghanistan and
overseas for tertiary education for male students, unfortunately, there are no
opportunities for girls to have access to secondary education inside Afghanistan.
Nevertheless, there are often some opportunities that allow Afghan girls to continue
their secondary education outside the country, thanks to United World College
(AWC) for being one of them. This institution is providing this rare opportunity to Afghan female students for 2024.
